The Barton Reading and Spelling System is dedicated to enhancing the reading, writing, and spelling abilities of school-aged children and adults struggling with low literacy levels attributed to reading difficulties or disabilities.

This method shows the phonemic structure of written language through a multi-sensory framework, recognizing that individuals facing reading challenges excel when all senses—visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic—are engaged.

The Barton Reading & Spelling System is:

  • Research based
  • Orton-Gillingham based
  • Uses multi-sensory instruction
  • An explicit and systematic phonics program
  • Proven to be successful in teaching children and adults, especially those with learning disabilities

Each session is conducted one-on-one, providing a focused learning environment and fostering meaningful interaction. New participants are required to complete an assessment to ensure the program aligns with their needs and abilities.

You can claim tutoring under the Canadian Income Tax Form’s Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC). Please consult your accountant for more information on how to claim this expense. For more information, visit Income Tax Prep.
