  • Partnering with Schools for Student Success: Effective Parent Advocacy - LDAO, in partnership with Integra Children's Mental Health Centre, is offering a 7-week online workshop for parents and those who are helping parents navigate the school system. The workshop begins May 9, 2012, and promotes a collaborative approach to advocacy. Please view the workshop flyer for more details.
  • LDAWE's Accessible Customer Service Policy - LDAWE promotes accessible customer service through the development of policies, procedures, and practices that consider all persons with disabilities. The guiding principals are the promotion of independence, dignity, integration, and equality of opportunity. A copy of LDAWE's Accessible Customer Service Policy is available for review by clicking here. Feedback on programs and services is welcomed and may be given in person, by telephone, in writing, in an electronic format, and through other methods.
  • Reid Family Scholarship - The application period is now closed; however, LDAO's Roy Cooper Memorial Scholarship Award is currently accepting applications. Please click here to review details about this scholarship and scholarships offered by our provincial (LDAO) and national (LDAC) organizations.

2012 Workshops and Fundraising Events

11th Annual Spring Fundraising Dinner & Volunteer Recognition Event

Dinner


When: Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Where: Emanuel United Church at 1726 Lincoln Road in Windsor, ON

Menu: Stuffed Chicken Thigh, Rice Pilaf, Salad, Green Beans with Almonds, Chocolate Bread Pudding, and Coffee.

What: This year, the food is being prepared by students from Century Secondary School under the supervision of Chef Hart. There will be plenty of door prizes and raffle items to be won! Additionally, the first annual recipient of the Reid Family Scholarship will be announced.

Why: Funds raised during the event support LDAWE's resource and support centre, on-going programs and 2012 public education events.

Cost: $20 / person

Note: If you are unable to attend, we also accept ticket donations so that members of the Adult or Youth Support Group can attend the dinner.

7th Annual LDAWE Walk-a-Thon & Family Picnic

When: Saturday, July 21, 2012 • Registration at 9:30am • Event takes place from 10am - 2pm

Where: Malden Park at 4200 Malden Road in Windsor

What: Come take a stroll with us through Malden Park! Afterwards, stick around to enjoy some fun in the sun, music provided by the Windsor Regiment Band, airhose hockey, games, food, and door prizes! The theme for this year's event is "Hockey Afternoon in Windsor-Essex."

Why: Funds raised during the event support LDAWE's resource and support centre, on-going programs and 2012 public education events.

Cost: There is no cost for this event; however, we kindly ask that you collect pledges for the Walk-a-Thon. Pledge sheets are available at the office. Please call the office to register for this event!
